Tree planting in Ham Field

By Hall News - Sat, 7th Mar 2026

Trees planted in two rows to form a hedge Wood chippings on the floor.

Thank you to our parish council's Countryside Access team and volunteers for planting a hedge along the eastern edge of Ham field.

These small trees will extend the border of established trees along the boundary with the Fal footpath and mean that the old stock fence can be removed. What better activity could you have for one of the first sunny days after a long wet and stormy winter?

Cllr. Helen Bunt said, "The pack of saplings came from the Woodland Trust and included hazel, blackthorn, elder, crab apple, rowan and blackthorn. They’ll create a wildlife-friendly hedge."

Cllr. Kay Chapman said, "Countryside Access is pleased to be working with the Village Hall to help make the Ham Field even better for the community and benefit the environment."

Ham field is a space open to the public and leased by the village hall from the Ham family. There's a small pond, a shelter, and benches. It has already benefited from several tree plantings. All are welcome. It is used by the school for exploring nature. No dogs please.
