Double Fiddle

We heard some wonderful violin music today at Grampound Village Hall. Thomas Bowes and Philippe Honoré on tour with their concert "Double Fiddle".

The violinists met recently through recording film music and have rehearsed for this series of concerts in Cornwall supported by Carn to Cove. They played so well together as though they had performed as a duo for a lifetime - turning pages for each other and changing tempo faultlessly.

Grampound hall was filled with violin music from composers of the 18th to 20th centuries including Louis Spohr's Grand Duo for two violins in D Minor, Bartók violin duos, and Bach's 'Crab Canon' composed for the King of Prussia.

At the hall we like to experiment with different formats - and this Sunday afternoon 'matinee' performance did just that.
